Short, sharp and shiny April wrap up... almost in June

This month and last month we have been busy sprucing up what we affectionately refer to as the "crusty bathroom" or the "cats' bathroom" (since that is where the kitty litter trays live). I will share before and after pictures as soon as our little project is complete.  As per usual, this job has taken much longer to complete than anticipated and there isn't even any tiling involved!

I have been feeling a little jaded about almost everything lately - my job, my wardrobe, fashion in general, hence why I have been rather quiet in blogosphere, but to keep the momentum going I thought I would just quickly summarise what I've been buying lately (not much).

Wardrobe additions
  1. Sussan leopard print tube skirt (see previous post). I have not worn this yet... hmmm.
  2. Sussan green jewelled necklace (see previous post).  Amazingly this did not cause the back of my neck to get inflamed, albeit I only wore it for a short period of time.
  3. Sussan blue jewelled earrings (see previous post).  Ditto re ear lobe inflammation.
  4. Country Road metallic linen jacket.  This is by far my most exciting purchase in years. It's a direct replacement for a jacket I wrote about in this post. It popped up on eBay and I did not hesitate to snap it up immediately (well I waited until the last second to bid like I always do).
  5. Witchery navy blue silk shirt with lace sleeves. Very pretty. I wore it to a degustation dinner (OMG so expensive! Never again, or at least not until we win lotto!) two weekends ago.
  6. Witchery navy blue ribbed cuffed pants. I wore them last weekend to breakfast with my Dickers.  Not too sure about this combo (and neither was my boyfriend) but I wore it anyway (refer back to my comment about being jaded).

I spent less than $200 on fashion items in April thanks to some vouchers I had.  This is not to say that I wasn't tempted to spend more, however I exercised an insurmountable amount of will power on many occasions and refrained from buying a number of lovely things.  Regardless of the fact that I am still recovering from the mega credit card bill from a couple of months ago (hence a little poor), I have been directing pretty much all disposable income towards things for the home... little things, but it all adds up.

  1. I find that I am a house person or a fashion person. When my interests lie with the house, all fashion stuff goes on a back burner and that is probably what it is happening for you right now that you have a new home to furnish. But it's still nice to hear an update from you. Don't worry about the "jaded" bit - we all have moments in life where it feels like that.

    1. Haha Sue I'm one of those women who wants it all - to be a house person AND a fashion person... sadly my finances do not allow it. Re the "jaded" bit - I have felt like this for a while. Trying to figure out what to do with myself, but thanks for the kind words :)

  2. I like those blue pants with your Dickers - creates a nice silhouette. Great to hear you found a replacement jacket. Gosh I love eBay for picking up pieces you missed in store. Well done saving, I'm abstaining from purchasing too but only just xx

    1. I have a number of saved searches going :) Guilt free shopping when you know you will love wearing something because you wore it death the first time.
I'm not sure whether what I'm doing can be called "saving"... more like lining the pockets of the owners of Bunnings!

    1. Thank you, although I feel a huge eBay sell off brewing to raise some money for some new bits and pieces to wear :)

  4. Sounds like you have been very responsible! I applaud you for that. I'm trying my best to be good and with all the sales going on it is getting difficult to resist. I keep saying to myself oh but something similar might not pop up, and I just have to remind myself that it isn't the end of the world. You should do another post where you picture all the items you bought, I liked how you did that last time!

  5. good work on the not-fashion-shopping. i find taking a break from blogs lets me get to know my wardrobe again and i wear what i love on me, and not necessarily what i love on the internet. (obviously reading fashion blogs means getting new ideas, so it's a balance).

like you and house-things, i find my disposable funds being spent on vinyl, which means I may want to think about how i rationalise spending money on music completely differently.

thanks for the thoughtful post, as always.

    1. I try to avoid 'fashion' blogs. It's so easy to get obsessed over items. Instead I enjoy reading those blogs where bloggers shop their closet and take a more streamlined approach over their possessions. Having said that I have spent a lot in June so far, but I guess the redeeming factor is that everything I've bought is simple and it's all being paid for with eBay funds (hopefully).
Would love to buy more for the house, but it's all so expensive!
