I always try to take advantage of the offer because I have long loved Country Road and I want to maintain my loyalty status - plus I'm always after something new for work.
I'm hearing and reading online that people are loving this new season collection, but truth be told, I have found it quite challenging to really like anything in store to say the least. The cuts are not flattering and I guess acid pastels aren't really my thing...
I spent 3 lunch breaks last week to progressively try on every item in the store to maybe change my mind about it - to no avail.
As always the sales assistants have tried their big sell on me: "but you can tie it back with the neutral pieces in your wardrobe". But I’m my own person when it comes to shopping and what I wear – you cannot convince me to be otherwise.
Furthermore nothing really seems worthy of my hard earned money. Two of the dresses that I tried on (including the one on the far left in the image above) and considered buying were comprised from polyester! Country Road, if you want me to remain your loyal customer, please do not make garments comprised from inferior fabrics!
I did buy something in the end (not new season)... a dress and matching bed linen and pillow cases... both devoid of colour, both black and white striped :)
What I spent my savings on in Country Road... |
oh wow I absolutely love that bed linen! I'll have to check out CR x

ReplyDeleteHaha love it! It sucks when you really want to buy something -but nothing works out!! At least you 'saved'
x
in that top photo, the dress on the far right looks like the cover of that kids book 'elmer the elephant' LOL!
ReplyDeleteI agree with nothing being worthy of my money lately! I'm bored of buying clothes.. I've moved onto homewares and candles now. haha
Krissy - I'm focusing on the house now too. Though it's sometimes difficult to convince my BF that we 'need' stuff esp since we are saving a house deposit. My arguement is that at least we will have pretty stuff when and if we are mortgaged to the eyeballs.
DeleteWhat is this spend and save thing at Country Road? I have to admit, I quite like the neon yellow shift and if I was working, I think it would be quite an easy piece to work with a few of the right accessories.
ReplyDeleteLove the bedlinen but I am rather daunted by the dress. And this is coming from someone who loves stripes! I think it is because it is so body con.
Spend and save is an offer that CR do for their loyalty members - it's basically spend $150 or $300 and get a discount of $50 or $100 off your total purchase price respectively. You need to spend $750 in a year to keep qualifing for their offers.
DeleteI wasn't expecting that the dress would look good on, but it's surprisingly flattering. The black vertical panels at the side are slimming and the fabric is very thick. I sized up in any event ;)
I am not a pastel person in general either. The striped dress with the dark side blocks could be flattering. Interesting to hear your thoughts post wears.
ReplyDeleteFYI Dress debut this Friday for work casual day and a friend's bday drinks post work ;)
DeleteI managed to find a pale lemon coloured blazer that I thought would be perfect in the summer time worn with whites, greys and taupes. I don't have much else in the way of sorbet tones so that will do for now. I have to say that while I love all the colour and think it looks pretty, most of it just does nothing for what I already have in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteLoving what you did end up buying though x
I like the pastel blazers. They will look really pretty with other pastels and washed out greys, but I would need to buy a whole new wardrobe to make them work for me.
DeleteEverything else though big thumbs down from me. Hopefully the second drop for the new season will be more my style.
There's a lot of neon going on at the moment, unfortunately, which I personally think could've waited until summer when people are more likely to wear sunnies and can shield their eyes from the glare when some people take the neon craze too far :(
ReplyDelete(it does sound nicer when you call it 'acid neon' though!)
I was once crazy about Country Road. I would be queuing during the first day of the sale. And then I came to the UK. Such a plethora of brands on my doorstep and so much more affordable too.
ReplyDeleteYou are making me jealous :)
DeleteI wanted to use my Spend & Save voucher this time too and like you, couldn't find anything that was really me. I tried on the dress on the far left of the photo but it just didn't look right on. I almost bought the quilt cover you did though - I love black and white (and stripes) but I decided to behave myself in the end and not buy anything :(
ReplyDeleteGood move :)
DeleteBut if you are in the market for new bed linen check out Karen Walker's new collection at Myer. Similar prices to CR as well. I love the blue bird set :)
